Born in Nuremberg, Tobias Rempe began making music at the age of seven. During his years as violin student at the university, he co-founded Ensemble Resonanz and was a member as violinist until 2007.
In 2004 and 2005, he began working in the management team, one of his projects being the concert series »Kaispeicher entern!« which took place in the brick foundation of what later became the Elbphilharmonie. In 2008, he stepped down from being a professional violinist and took over the management of Ensemble Resonanz.
Together with the ensemble and the management team, he developed the »urban string« concert series, relocated the ensemble to the Medienbunker in St. Pauli, part of which was converted into the resonanzraum in 2014, established the ensemble’s residency at the Elbphilharmonie and launched the platform resonanz.digital in 2019. In 2018, he created the ensemble’s own label resonanzraum records and produced recordings such as »weihnachtsoratorium«, »aheym« and »mercy seat«. Tobias Rempe is first chairman of the executive board at FREO e.V., the association of independent ensembles and orchestras in Germany.
