And what about the revolution?
Kalle Kalima, Electric Guitar

Ensemble Resonanz
For this program, Finnish guitarist Kalle Kalima has read John Locke and has become a jazz anarchist and chamber music revolutionary. He unleashes the spirit of Enlightenment and harmonizes their collective forces with Ensemble Resonanz: The sounds are down-to-earth and quirky, tricky and tangled. All strive strive for music-life balance under good leadership.
Kalle Kalima: »The work ›checks & balances‹ is inspired by ideas from the 17th century philosopher John Locke, who outlined a basis for our democratic coexistence. In the piece, all instruments and voices take responsibility for the whole, and the democratic principle is practiced and lived in the musical dialogue. The composition will be mostly notated, but the electric guitar part, which I play myself, also has improvised sections that live from one performance to the next.«
