Born in Stuttgart, Jörn Kellermann began taking cello lessons with Thomas Blees in Cologne at the age of nine. Afterwards, he went on to study with Klaus Heitz in Aachen and with Eberhard Finke at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin, from where he graduated in 1989.
Being a member of the Junge Deutsche Philharmoniefor several years (under conductors such as Charles Dutoit, Gary Bertini, David Shallon, Pierre Boulez, Antal Dorati and Michael Gielen) was of great influence on his musical education. In 1997, he joined Ensemble Resonanz which since has been the center of his professional life and to which for many years he contributed not only as a musician but also as member of the administrative and artistic boards. He is also a passionate Baroque cellist and as such frequently plays with the Balthasar-Neumann-Ensemble, Kammerakademie Potsdam, Lautten Compagney Berlin, Ensemble Schirokko and Elbipolis in Hamburg.
