Since becoming a member of Ensemble Resonanz, Skaiste has moved to Hamburg. The fundamental idea of the ensemble resonates with her in terms of an extremely diverse repertoire, different concert formats and roles to fulfill first and foremost as a musician, rather than just a violin player.
Born in Vilnius, Lithuania, Skaiste comes from a family of two violinists. After graduating from an Art Gymnasium she moved to Germany to study in Essen, later moving to Berlin. From an early age it was clear to her that she is a team player and therefore is most interested in playing chamber music in small groups or a chamber orchestra. Parallel to her studies at Folkwang Universität der Künste, she was already a very active performer.
Skaiste has given many concerts as a part of a chamber group or a Duo in the US/Canada, in Brasil, Turkey, Germany, Austria, The Netherlands and France. Over the years of working with many chamber orchestras Skaiste had the joy to perform in the most prestigious halls in the world, such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Tonhalle in Zürich, Musee D´Orsay in Paris, Berliner Philharmonie, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and many others. Beside performing live alongside Gidon Kremer, Martha Argerich, Daniil Trifonov, Mischa Maisky and others she also recorded multiple CDs under the Deutsche Grammophon and ECM labels. She has participated in many music festivals around the world, most notably Budapest Spring Festival, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Schleswig-Holstein Festival, Festival D'Aix-en-Provence and many more.
